Reggious BellHUNTSVILLE, Ala. (May 16, 2012) — University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAHuntsville) alumnus Reggious Bell (‘2008, ‘2011 Accounting) was recently elected as the new Alabama state director for the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., (Beta Epsilon Sigma Chapter).
Bell is an accountant at Phoenix, a non-profit Huntsville-based organization providing jobs, job placement and other services to individuals with disabilities in Cullman, Jackson, Limestone, Madison and Morgan counties.
As director, Bell will advise more than 600 “brothers” in Alabama. He is the youngest person to be elected to this leadership position. While attending UAHuntsville Bell reconstructed the school’s Alpha Sigma Alpha chapter. “In the fall Alpha Sigma Alpha’s presence on campus will grow, as the organization supports more service projects that give back to the community and enhances the UAHuntsville campus life.”
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., is a historical black Greek Letter fraternity founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., in 1914.
Today the international organization is comprised of more than 150,000 college-educated men focusing on issues that impact youth and surrounding communities. Famous men of Phi Beta Sigma include George Washington Carver, John Lewis, Al Sharpton, Jerry Rice, Blair Underwood and the original Temptations.
Bell, a graduate of Demopolis High School was a recipient of the Gates Millennium Scholars Program. Additional academic awards include UAHuntsville Distinguished Leader Award, Southern Region Community Education Association Volunteer of the Year Award.
He is a member of Beta Alpha Psi, the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee for the College of Business Administration and the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society.
Bell graduated from UAHuntsville in 2008 with a BSBA in accounting, and again in 2011 earning a master’s degree in accounting.
