Jennifer Marsh, Visiting Assistant Professor
Jennifer Marsh joins the faculty of the University of Alabama Huntsville from Syracuse University, where she received her Master of Fine Arts degree and taught Plastics Techniques and Sculpture in the College of Performing and Visual Arts. In addition, Ms. Marsh served as an English and Art teacher to elementary school children in Dharmasala, India. “The most important thing I find in working with students is to inspire them to achieve their highest goals,” explains Ms. Marsh. “Through a sense of mentorship, I encourage students to see their successes in overcoming the challenges they face in pursuit of studio practice in an increasingly competitive and rigorous field.”
Ms. Marsh did her undergraduate work at Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio, and trained in neon and stained glass making at the internationally renowned Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, Washington. Her work has been seen in exhibitions across the country including the Wood Turning Center (Philadelphia, PA), Art House (McAllen, TX), and Joyce Goldstein Gallery, (Chatam, New York). She is the founder and director of the public art project The International Fiber Collaborative which incorporates work by more than 450 artists and 2,500 students spanning15 countries, and has received national media coverage in USA Today, CBS News, Fox News, and The Washington Post. Ms. Marsh’s work is supported by the Puffin Foundation, the Gifford Foundation, the Partnership for Better Education, and the Cultural Resources Council.
