The UAH Department of Student Activities & Greek Life mission is to provide
the diverse student body with a variety of experiences which enhance the development
of the student as a whole.
SaveFirst: A Tax Preparation And Financial Literacy Initiative -
UAHuntsville students worked on free tax preparation sites in Huntsville and Decatur which prepared over 150 tax returns for working families helping them to secure $180K in tax refunds and saving them $30K in commercial preparation fees.
They also collaborated with over 225 additional students to prepare tax returns for over 1400 working families in cities across the state. Overall, the initiative saved families $280K in commercial preparation fees and helped them to claim $2 million in tax refunds.
