The History faculty wants to help you learn about the past and prepare you for the future. We are dedicated to excellence in research and teaching, and strive to create a range of classes and programs to meet your interests.
If you are an undergraduate student, you can earn a major or minor in history. You can take the new interdisciplinary Public History minor to build job skills. You can also learn in other interdisciplinary programs in Classical Studies, Women's Studies, and Global Studies, as well as a new one in Science, Technology, and Society.
If you are a graduate student, the department also has a graduate program in which you can earn a traditional Masters degree in history. You can also earn a Masters in history and a teaching credential in the Non-traditional Fifth Year program.
We have social organizations too. An active chapter of Phi Alpha Theta rewards classroom success and encourages presentations at regional conferences. A Public History for students interested in history organizes visits to historical sites in the vicinity and other social activities.
Please explore our website for information about our students, our faculty and our program. The department annually offers scholarships to students and assistantships to our graduate students.
