International researcher, consultant Aldo de Moor to lecture at UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (August 27, 2013) - Aldo de Moor, owner of CommunitySense, an international consultancy company linking the worlds of community informatics research in academia and practice, will be the guest speaker for The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Honors Lecture Series, on Thursday, August 29.

The lecture entitled "Expanding the Academic Research Community: Building Bridges into Society with the Internet," will begin at 11:10 a.m., in the Shelby Center for Science and Technology room 107. Dr. de Moor's visit is sponsored by the university's Honors Program, the College of Business Administration, and the UAH Humanities Center. His week-long visit features discussions, lectures and various campus activities.

Dr. de Moor, of the Netherlands, founded CommunitySense in 2007. He previously worked as an assistant professor at the Department of Information Systems and Management at Tilburg University. Additionally, Dr. de Moor was a senior researcher at the Semantics Technology and Applications Research Laboratory (STARLab) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in Belgium.

His research interests include community informatics, collaboration and communication modeling, socio-technical systems design, and the impact ICT on society. Dr. de Moor earned a master's degree and Ph.D., in information management from Tilburg University, the Netherlands.
