The UAHuntsville Concert Choir recently sang, along with the choirs from Alabama A & M, Orff’s Carmina Burana, with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and the Huntsville Community Chorus. A stunning piece, the choruses had a blast with the variety of languages and singing over all that percussion!
The Chamber Choir toured Southern California over Spring Break (March 19-24, 2012). While in Los Angeles and Orange County, they performed in various venues. They also sang in a clinic with Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe, current Chair of Choral and Sacred Music at USC, and participated in a choral exchange with the University Singers at the California State University, Fullerton, Dr. Rob Istad, conductor and Director of Choirs. It was a very successful tour for the choir and we all managed to come back with our southern accents in tact.
The UAHuntsville Chamber Choir was selected to perform at the 2012 Alabama Music Educators Association Conference in Montgomery, January 19-21 of 2012. The choir will performed approximately fifty minutes of music for music teachers, students and parents from all over the state of Alabama. This was a remarkable recruiting opportunity for UAHuntsville, and was additionally a great honor for our UAHuntsville singers who worked hard to establish themselves as a reputable chorus. This was the first time this particular chorus was asked to sing at this conference.
