Most study abroad programs have minimum requirements for participation. Participation in UAH faculty-led courses requires instructor approval and a minimum 2.5 GPA. However, please note that some UAH faculty-led programs may have additional prerequisites and a higher GPA requirement. Participation in UAH exchange programs with partner institutions involves a review of the student's academic record and an interview process. Eligibility for participation in affiliate programs varies. Please check the individual providers' websites for more information.

Students participating in UAH faculty-led study abroad programs receive direct UAH credit for their programs.

If UAH has an agreement with an international institution or affiliate provider, students will be registered directly at UAH. Courses, however, must be pre-approved in advance by departments at UAH. Departments will review current or past syllabi to determine if and what UAH credit can be granted for the courses. Students must consult with the Office of Study Abroad about how to identify abroad courses and receive the necessary approval from UAH departments for them.

If students seek to participate in a study abroad program with a non-UAH affiliated provider, students must first receive approval for participation in the program from the Office of Study Abroad. Upon approval, students then will work with the Office of Study Abroad to identify possible courses and receive prior approval from UAH departments for them.
