Lisha Adams, of the U.S. Army Materiel Command will give the welcome and a brief talk to young girls attending UAH's Girl’s Science and Engineering Day on Saturday, Nov. 3.

Lisha Adams, Executive Deputy to the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) will give the welcome and make brief remarks to young girls attending The University of Alabama in Huntsville's (UAH) Girl's Science and Engineering Day on Saturday, Nov. 3.

Adams will open the annual event at 10 a.m. in the lobby of the Shelby Center for Science and Technology on the UAH campus. Each girl will attend a schedule of four, 40-minute hands-on workshops, one from each Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) discipline. The UAH Women's Leadership Council sponsors the annual event.

As AMC's top civilian, Adams is responsible for materiel life cycle management, acquisition support, personnel and resource management, industrial base operations, enterprise integration, research and development, and science and technology for a globally reaching command with over 63,000 personnel with an impact or presence in 144 locations globally and all 50 states.

UAH Girls' Science and Engineering Day is open to Madison County girls in the third through fifth grades interested in STEM subjects. Girls will conduct experiments and enjoy other activities such as strawberry DNA extractions, robotics and missile simulators.

Approximately 500 girls will attend the event this year. The cost for the half-day program is $20 for each girl and includes all workshop materials, lunch and a snack. Registration for gseduah.com is now open on a first-come, first-served basis and will close Friday, Oct. 26.
