Dr. Chao Peng

Professor, Computer Science Department

Biography

I joined Department of Computer Science at UAH in Fall 2014. I finished my undergraduate study in 2005 at Hebei University of Engineering majored in Architectural Design (buildings), obtained my Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in 2008 from University of Alaska Fairbanks with a concentration on Computer Art, and earned my Master and PhD degrees in Computer Science from Virginia Tech in 2011 and 2013, respectively. During my PhD, I also conducted research as an intern at DreamWorks Animation. I am the director of Gaming, GPU and Graphics Research Lab. My primary research areas are computer game development, big data visualization, character animation, GPU-based parallel computing and geometry processing. Besides performing research in Computer Science, I am an artist working on various kinds of digital art, including digital paintings, 3D models, 2D & 3D animated shorts, games and other interactive arts.
