The Architecture Analysis and Design Language (AADL) provides a standardized language for modeling the architecture of software-intensive systems. RSESC has developed an open source graphical editor for the AADL. The editor integrates with the Eclipse based Open Source AADL Tool Environment (OSATE) to allow the visualization and modification of AADL models using the graphical notation specified by the AADL standard. Although knowledge of the semantics of the AADL language is required, the editor allows editing AADL models without the need to know the precise syntactic details of the AADL textual language.

The initial version of the editor has been integrated into the latest OSATE releases available from the OSATE website. The source code for the editor is available on GitHub. A user guide is included in the OSATE help system.
