CDC Advice on Vulnerable Individuals The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have identified broad categories of individuals who are at higher risk for severe COVID illness, including: People 65 and over Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities Those with poorly controlled, underlying conditions that affect the immune system, such as lung and heart conditions, obesity, diabetes, and kidney and liver diseases.
