covid testing kits

UAH is providing free, on-site COVID-19 testing for faculty, staff and students. The tests will be performed by employees from the Student Health Center and Faculty and Staff Clinic, but in our new testing location in Executive Plaza. Testing will not be performed at the Student Health Center or the Faculty and Staff Clinic.

All tests are performed by appointment only. Walk-ins are not accepted.

Huntsville, AL 35816

Procedure:

What to bring

  • A mask to wear in your vehicle during contact with employees
  • Your driver’s license or other valid ID
  • Your insurance card (in case further testing is needed)

What to expect

Upon arrival, drive under the white tent outside the building. A nurse will meet you at your vehicle to collect some information and assess COVID-19 symptoms. A nasal swab will be performed by a nurse. You will then be asked to park in a reserved stall until your results are ready. Results are typically available in 20 minutes.

If you already had COVID-19

If you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 12 weeks, please do not re-test at this time. Instead, provide a copy of your positive test result and medical clearance from a health care provider to return to campus.

  • Faculty and staff should send results to the Faculty and Staff Clinic at email COVIDtestingFS@uah.edu.
  • Students should send results to the Student Health Center at COVIDtesting@uah.edu .
  • If you have additional questions, please email the Student Health Center at  shc@uah.edu or the Faculty and Staff Clinic at fsc@uah.edu.

For-cause Testing

For-cause testing (cluster testing) will be conducted by UAH when, as determined by campus healthcare professionals, there are three or more COVID-positive tests documented in a geographic area in a seven-day rolling period. Geographic areas are defined as within a specific location (i.e., dorm floor, sorority/fraternity house) or a discrete group or department (i.e., in a classroom, on a team, in a student organization, from a particular event or gathering, etc.).

Campus healthcare professionals will also order for-cause testing in an area when there is increased reporting in Charger Healthcheck, or to the Student Health Center or the Faculty and Staff Clinic of COVID-19 related symptoms or exposures. Students required to participate in sentinel testing must also participate in for-cause testing. Those who refuse to participate in required for-cause testing will be referred to student conduct. Athletic coaches/staff required to participate in sentinel testing must also participate in for-cause testing.

Weekly Testing for Athletics

UAH regularly tests all students and employees participating in intercollegiate athletics. Testing protocols for these groups is outside of sentinel testing, and complies with all NCAA and host site requirements. At a minimum, all staff and students actively engaging in intercollegiate workouts or competitions, whether formally or informally, are tested at least one time per week. Depending on whether the sport is in season or off season, testing for students is conducted in Executive Plaza or Spragins. Coaches and staff are tested in Spragins.
