A message from the president of UAH.

Dear UAH Community,

I hope you all enjoyed a safe and happy holiday break, and now I want to welcome each of you back to a productive and hopeful spring 2021 semester here at UAH.

The health and safety of our faculty, staff and students remain our top priority as we continue our teaching, research and service missions at UAH. Please help us to ensure a productive and successful semester by remembering to continue to practice the same vigilance we demonstrated in 2020 to combat this virus by following these guidelines:

  • Avoid crowds, especially where 6 feet of social distancing cannot be maintained
  • Wear a face covering indoors and outside where appropriate
  • Minimize your in-person interactions to those who are in your close social circle
  • Avoid areas where you may have an increased risk of exposure, such as where community spread is increasing; alter your travel plans to avoid those areas

It remains imperative that we practice these behaviors off campus as well. COVID-19 continues to spread in our community, and while we have shown great diligence in maintaining health and safety here at UAH, contact tracing has shown the greatest threat to our well-being comes during times spent away from school. As we await distribution of the vaccine, we are all dependent on one another to stop the spread.

To support this effort, please consider downloading the GuideSafeTM Exposure Notification App. Users of the app can anonymously share a positive COVID-19 test result—and be anonymously notified of potential previous close contact with someone who later reports a positive COVID-19 test result—without sharing anyone’s identity.

These efforts will also help us meet our goal to provide you the on-campus resources and high-quality educational experience you have come to expect here at UAH.

Thank you for making safety a priority and being a role model for our campus and community. As we move through this new year, we could not be more excited and thankful for the opportunities ahead for each and every one of us. As always, work hard, and I wish you every good fortune in spring 2021!.
