A message from the president of UAH.

Faculty and Staff,

The entire UAH community has worked tirelessly to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and plan for the short-term and long-term impacts that will be left in its wake. Your efforts are vastly appreciated.

We established the UAH Return to Campus Task Force in the spring, and it is being co-chaired by Christine Curtis, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Kristi Motter, Vice President for Student Affairs. One of the outcomes of that task force is a plan that outlines efforts by the university community to develop a flexible approach to re-open campus while considering adjustments to be made if conditions improve or worsen.

From that plan the task force has produced a Return to Campus website. On that website, you will find links to aspects of a return to campus this fall, such as: guiding principles; phased opening; campus updates; health & safety; campus life & large events; academics; research; building access; supervisor and staffing tips; and contacts. Additional content will be added to the website as it becomes available.

There is also a 15-page Return to Campus Guide available for download from the website.

While these safety and health measures are being implemented across our entire campus, the guidelines provided by the task force will address the unique needs and challenges within our programs, spaces, and campus locations.

By committing to a caring culture that starts with our personal behavior and acceptance of responsibility, this plan prioritizes the health and well-being of all our students, faculty, staff, vendors, volunteers, and visitors and provides a roadmap for continuing to provide exceptional educational, research, and engagement programs.

These guidelines and requirements could be subject to change and will be updated prior to future phases of re-entry, including a return to in-person instruction. You will receive various email updates from time to time with specific guidance. Next week, keep an eye out for a prior to return to campus checklist for students and employees.

Charge on!
