Translation and Tilt Optical Mirror Mount

UAH-P-11002-Translation and Tilt Optical Mirror Mount Revised-01

Docket: UAH-P-11002

Technology

In the current market, there are a number of existing mirror-mount systems that can perform either translation or tilt, but few can accomplish both.

Researchers at UAH have developed a new optical mirror mounting system that can easily and precisely provide linear translation in three axes and tilt in two axes for any optical device. The primary advantage of this system over other optical mounting systems is that it incorporates the ability to adjust, lock, translate and tilt into one system. There are many pre-existing systems that can only perform translation or can only perform tilt. However, this mirror mount system compactly incorporates a variety of adjustments with a wide range of operations.

In addition to its flexibility, the fabrication of this mount is relatively easy, fast, and inexpensive.
