Ligrani recognized for ASME committee leadership

Dr. Phillip Ligrani was recognized by the ASME International Gas Turbine Institute with an Outstanding Service Award.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) International Gas Turbine Institute has recognized Dr. Phillip Ligrani for outstanding contributions, commitment and service to its Heat Transfer Committee with an Outstanding service Award.

Dr. Ligrani is the eminent scholar in propulsion and a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).

One of two recipients this year, Dr. Ligrani was recognized for his service as chairman and vice chairman of the committee, as well as for his involvement with international scientific committees and international advisory boards, his editorship activities, his service as a panelist or ad hoc reviewer for various government agencies including the National Science Foundation, and as a reviewer for some of the most prestigious journals in his areas of research.

"It was a pleasure to be involved in ASME service through the leadership of the K-14 Gas Turbine Heat Transfer Committee," Dr. Ligrani says. “Working with many dedicated and hard-working committee members and officers was also most enjoyable, most especially because of their dedicated efforts related to scholarly quality and high ASME standards."

He received the award personally while in attendance at the Turbo Expo 2019 meeting in Phoenix.
