Tour of the Shiloh National Military Park and the Corinth Battlefield - 3/10 - 3/11/2025
Summary
At 8:00 am on Monday, 10 March, the tour participants will depart and caravan in private vehicles from the UAH West Commuter Parking Lot and proceed to Corinth, MS. Upon arrival in Corinth, the tour group will eat lunch at a local dining establishment.
Following lunch, the participants will meet a Civil War docent at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center and commence a guided exploration of key sites to the Corinth Campaigns of 1862. Upon completing the presentations, the group will have the opportunity to share supper at a local eatery and then retire for the evening. There are several local hotel offerings available for participants to choose from.
By 9:30 am on Tuesday, 11 March, participants will gather at the Shiloh National Military Park Visitors’ Center for a guided walk and demonstrations that identify military actions that define Shiloh's importance and cost to both the Grand Army of the Republic and the Confederate Army forces. The tour will conclude by 5:00 pm, and the participants will return to Huntsville.
The trips to both military parks are an adjunct to the OLLI course, The Path to Victory: Grant, Sherman and the Campaigns that Won the Civil War, and deliver additional historical insight for any military or Civil War enthusiast.
