Traditional ways of tracking citations for published research articles overlooks the many ways people actually use the articles: social media, discussions, blogs, and more. Altmetrics is an attempt to show research discussed and used in these other spheres. Michael Manasco will discuss the history and benefits to altmetrics in this talk.
