Coronavirus (COVID-19) Employee Information and Resources The resources below are to assist staff and supervisors with decision-making during the University’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. The information below is to be used as a guideline and is specific to interim changes to operations during this time. For additional information, please refer to University policies and procedures, and for assistance, please contact your supervisor and/or Human Resources. 2021 Extension of COVID-19 Related Leave Expanded EFML/EPSL for Childcare Request Form | Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL) Request Form Will employees have to use their sick leave if they test positive? The Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which was signed into law on March 18, 2020, required The University of Alabama in Huntsville to provide employees with emergency paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, including time-off for COVID-related personal illness, care of an immediate family member, and/or childcare due to school closure or unavailable childcare. That leave expired on December 31, 2020. However, the University will extend the use of Emergency Paid Sick Leave and Expanded Family and Medical Leave through June 30, 2021. Employees may use EPSL and/or EFML for up to two instances of leave for the reasons noted above. An employee who tests positive for COVID-19 should immediately contact Human Resources at hr@uah.edu Will employees who have been exposed to someone testing positive have to use their leave time for the quarantine period? The University is extending the use of Emergency Paid Sick Leave and Expanded Family and Medical Leave through June 30, 2021. An employee who has a close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19 should immediately contact Human Resources at hr@uah.edu.
