Professor Van Norden is a leading international scholar of Chinese philosophy, the author of Virtue Ethics and Consequentialism in Early Chinese Philosophy (Cambridge University Press, 2007), and translator of Mengzi: With Selections from Traditional Commentaries (Hackett, 2008) His fifth public lecture at UAH, The Second Sage of Confucianism: Mengzi, introduces one of the most influential Confucian philosophers of all time, who argued that “human nature is good.”
