Fabric Memorials Arts & Entertainment Monday, August 12, 2024- September 19, 2024 The event started -29 days agoMultiday event - 39 days Salmon Library Gallery Jo-Anne Morgan began sewing during the pandemic. Quilting and applique techniques seemed a perfect choice for making art that could offer comfort during trying times. Because quilted comforters are familiar and approachable, the medium is ideal for addressing provocative topics. Despite the unsettling themes, these stitched fabric pictures offer a soothing counterpoint to the harsh events of contemporary reality. The message running throughout this work is “seeking comfort in a fraught world.” Art can be a way to process events and experiences that are almost too much to bear. Please join us for the closing recption and artist talk on Thursday, September 19th, from 4:30pm-6pm in the Salmon Library Gallery. Talk starts @ 4:30pm. Exhibition is on view through September 19th.
