Learn the fascinating history of early American film from its birth in the late 19th century to the arrival of the Hays Code in the 1930s, which changed the way Hollywood made movies. We’ll look at the creation of the first “moving pictures,” the great migration to California, the heyday of the silent era, and the cultural forces that led to the creation of a censorship board that dictated what the movies show.
