Nearly 29 years ago Dr. Mae Jemison, a young woman born only 20 miles from UAH, became the first woman of color in the world to travel to space. Since that time, Dr. Jemison has led in a variety of capacities within engineering, science, technology, and aerospace. She currently leads 100 Year Starship, a bold, far reaching nonprofit initiative to assure the capabilities exist for human travel beyond our solar system to another star within the next 100 years. Her leadership in her field has had a drastic impact on Huntsville and the fields that many UAH students seek to enter. Dr. Jemison will discuss the importance of STEM in developing the next generation of problem solvers and entrepreneurs. This experience is sure to inspire you to consider your own potential for the upcoming academic year!
