"The Work of Angels: Insular Art in the Early Medieval Period"

The art produced in Ireland and northern Britain from the 6th -9th centuries was of such intricacy and beauty that Gerald of Wales described it as "the work of angels." This talk provides an overview of the development of insular art, with examples drawn from metalwork, manuscripts, and stone sculpture.

Free and open to the public.
