Have you ever been asked what your research is about in a setting outside of your fellow researchers?

Truly, many people are interested when they ask, but then fake an interest because you have taken 20 minutes to explain a convoluted concept they still don't understand.

This competition is going to fix that and make you a research rockstar presenter because we want you to tell us about your research in THREE MINUTES!

Once again, it's time for our Three Minute Thesis and Dissertation Competition!

Graduate students will have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis/dissertation and its significance. This is not an exercise in trivializing or "dumbing-down" research; instead it challenges students to consolidate their ideas and research discoveries so they can be presented concisely to a non-specialist audience. 

Why Participate in 3MT?

This event is part of an effort to provide our masters and doctoral students with an opportunity to develop their oral communication and presentation skills. It also provides a valuable opportunity for research students to come together, get to know one another and talk about their research in a supportive environment. And you can win cash...

Prizes

For each category (Masters and PhD/DNP) 
First Place $250.00
Second place $100.00
Third place $50.00

The overall winner will also receive an all-expenses-paid trip to represent UAH at the regional 3MT Competition held by the Council of Graduate Schools Deans at their annual spring meeting (date and time will be announced). This provides an excellent networking and professional development opportunity.
