Join the UAH Department of Physics and Astronomy on Monday, April 2, at 6pm in MSB 100 for a special lecture presented by Distinguished Guest Lecturer in Astrophysics, scientist Dr. Roger Blandford titled Reverse Engineering the Universe.

Blandford is Director of the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology (KIPAC) at the SLAC National Laboratory, Stanford University. A specialist in black holes, white dwarfs, gamma ray bursts, gravitational lensing and the evolution of the universe, Blandford’s research includes establishing the Blandford-Znajek Process – the leading model that explains how energy can be extracted from a rotating black hole, producing plasma jets that travel near light speed.
