Join the Humanities Center, the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and the Department of Philosophy for the first in a series of public lectures by Professor Bryan Van Norden, 2023 Visiting Eminent Scholar. 

Professor Van Norden is a leading international scholar of Chinese philosophy and the author of Introduction to Classical Chinese Philososphy (Hackett, 2011). His second public lecture at UAH, Who Was Confucius? And What Did He Really Say?, examines China in the time of Confucius, Confucius' career as a teacher and politician, six themes of Confucianism, and the fate of Confucianism in modern China.

This event is free and open to anyone.

Subsequent lectures in this series will occur on Thursdays, 4-6pm, in Morton Hall 102.
