Monica Johnson is a multi-media artist who uses digital fabrication, traditional sculptural media, and sewing to construct wearable art that references avant-garde and ready-to-wear fashion and explores the pre-pandemic and post-pandemic periods through the work. The work is rooted in her inner growth and her personal experiences. The garments she creates are both playful and thought-provoking. She takes an “entrepreneurial” approach to exhibiting, utilizing narrative posts and videos on social media, as well as live events, to share her work.
