Fall 2022 Audition Information Is Here!
Our Fall 2022 auditions are coming up! Everyone, including Theatre majors, non-Theatre majors, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the Huntsville community alike are invited to bring their best to the UAH Theatre auditions for both our mainstage production and our Spark Staged Reading Series!
Auditions are on Monday, August 22, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Morton Hall Blackbox Theatre.
Theatre majors should complete the audition form and sign up for an audition appointment time between 6:30 pm and 7:15 pm using these posted links. Theatre majors should prepare one 1-minute comedic monologue and one 1-minute dramatic monologue from any period.
Non-theatre majors and non-students should arrive between 7:00 pm and 8:45 pm at the Morton Hall Blackbox Theatre to fill out an audition form and will read a provided monologue as their audition.
Callbacks are on Tuesday, August 23 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Morton Hall Blackbox Theatre. Callbacks will be readings of scenes from the fall plays.
Our mainstage production, The Revolutionists, by Lauren Gunderson, needs four actors who can play female-presenting characters and at least two actors who can play female-presenting characters as understudies. Rehearsals will begin in September and occur on Monday through Thursday evenings until October 20, 2022. During fall Break we will not rehearse. On October 24, 2022, rehearsal will occur Mondays through Fridays. Performances are November 2-13, Wednesdays through Sundays.
ABOUT THE REVOLUTIONISTS:
During the French Revolution, in a country divided between the haves and the have nots, and facing the threats of domestic terrorism and civil war, four badass women come together to unite as a sisterhood and fight back using the magic of theatre. When deposed queen Marie Antoinette, playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, and freedom fighter Marianne Angelle join forces, the Reign of Terror will cower, and a free France will rise. They hope. Fingers crossed. A comedy based on true stories, The Revolutionists is a play that will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you cheer: Vive la Femme!
SPARK STAGED READING SERIES:
The Spark Staged Reading Series of a play to be determined by the makeup of the company will occur on October 13. These plays will be read at music stands by the company and will be rehearsed two or three times, based on the complexity of the text.
