Lesson 6 (James Baldwin)

Wednesday, August 17, 2022- September 15, 2022 Multiday event - 30 days

Union Grove Gallery

Union Grove Gallery

Artist Barry R. Jones’ text-based artworks originated from his efforts to teach his children empathy and morals. Using a simple system of portable batteries, projectors, and speakers he creates ephemeral experiences. He collects stories, poems, and texts that serve as a source for his work.  The texts he chooses give voice to members of my community, especially those whose voice is often ignored. He believes that the written word holds a great deal of power and he aims to share the empathy and insight gained through reading with his audience.

The exhibition kicks off with an outdoor projection on the outside of Union Grove Gallery on Wednesday, August 17th, from 7:30pm - 9pm. Please join us for refreshments and the site specific event where you can meet the artist!

Other work will be on view inside the Gallery through September 15th.

Gallery Hours: Mondays/Wednesdays 3pm - 4:30pm, Fridays 11am - 1pm, or by appointment.
