Room 145

On Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 4:30pm in Morton Hall 145, Guest Speaker Michael Saffle, Program Specialist at the Institute of International Education, will talk about the Boren Awards.  The Boren Awards provide funding for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students studying in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.  This program requires rigorous language study, often for a full academic year overseas.  In exchange for funding, award recipients commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation.

Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply. Mr. Saffle will discuss the basic application and eligibility requirements for the Boren Awards, along with advice on how to prepare for the application itself.

This info session is ideal for all majors at all grade levels who are interested in studying abroad for a longer duration of time.  Eligibility is restricted to U.S. citizens.

If you are unable to attend or want to attend via Zoom, contact Jennifer Staton at statonj@uah.edu for the Zoom link and passcode.
