According to experts, 2/3 of the $7 trillion market value of all public companies is attributable to intangible assets like trademarks, trade names, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets.  Every company should be interested in protecting its intellectual property from uncompensated exploitation.  Federal government contractors should know what they have, how to protect it, and whether compliance with Government contract clauses will require them to give away valuable property.
