Saturdays 1:30pm to 3:00pm starting February 15 and ending April 18 (excluding the February 22 due to a conflict and the two Saturdays we are closed for Spring Break).

The M. Louis Salmon Library and the Alabama A&M Confucius Insistute will be bringing certified instructor, Luyao Ren, to host a series of free classes teaching students about Chinese Martial Arts.

Note, even though it is a free class and does not require a final test to complete, we would like folks to contact belinda.ong@uah.edu if they would like to attend so we can keep a general headcount/list.

Description of Class

Luyao Ren, with an international Tijiquan Coach Certificate, will teach the basic skills of Southern Boxing (also called Southern Fist), a type of traditional Chinese Kung Fu which originated in southern China. Southern Boxing features vigorous, athletic movements with very stable, low stances, extensive hand techniques and vocal articulation. Due to its popularity and distinction, it has occupied important positions in Kung Fu movies and novels.
