Like, Comment, Subscribe: Paintings by Katie Mockenturm

Tuesday, November 19, 2019- December 12, 2019 Multiday event - 24 days

Salmon Library Gallery

“Entertainment has gotten weird,” says Katie Mockensturm, whose senior exhibition is on view in the Salmon Library Gallery. Her rich painterly portraits find their source in the world of the “internet famous” of youtube and twitch. By stopping and taking screenshots of these “streamers,” she is able to use those images as an opportunity to catch their likenesses in motion. Her work captures the humor and the sense of connection between the on-line celebrities and their fans. She comments, “Some viewers have guessed that these were paintings of my friends, and in a way, they are.”  The affection she feels for her subjects is embedded in the beauty of the paint, and in the sense of life it coveys.

Please join us for an opening reception on Tuesday, November 19th, from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm.

Reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
