Young Democratics Socialists of America (YDSA) is sponsoring a kickoff event hosted by and for NASO (North Alabama School for Organizing). Hy Thurman will open the event, speaking on his experience as a co-founder of the Young Patriots and member of the original Rainbow Coalition (for Revolutionary Solidarity) in 1960s Chicago, and his visions for NASO.

He will then introduce Alicia Garza, a co-founding member of Black Lives Matter, as well as a director for the National Domestic Workers Alliance, and she will be speaking on her experiences organizing and possibly taking questions.
