Jessica Patmon Johnson is an Alabama born artist known for her portrait paintings and drawings that emphasize the duality of Southern female identity. Responding to her upbringing in the Deep South, her works are conceptual narratives that wander between reality and perception from fragmented portraits that convey strength despite implied obstacles of women in both past events and contemporary society. Her most recent works are paintings of  “feminine” objects that emphasize the importance of education and communication regarding HERstory, consumerism, gender-based marketing, health care and women’s rights.

Please join us for a closing reception on Tuesday, September 10th, from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm.

Exhibit and reception free and open to the public.
