This all-inclusive program will explain the Facility Clearance Process and requirements, including the dreaded DD Form 254 and common mistakes that result in Facility Clearance denials. The program also provides a comprehensive overview of the Personnel Security Clearance process for contractors, federal employees, applicants and military personnel. Ms. Long will discuss the criteria the federal government considers for making determinations of access to classified information and what to do if a security clearance is denied or revoked. Finally, Ms. Long will outline the legal and policy requirements for Cybersecurity and Insider Threat Industry Requirements and Compliance for current and future government contractors, including potential ramifications for non-compliance.

Guest Speaker:

Patricia A. Long is a military veteran and attorney with more than 20 years of national and homeland security experience. As a senior national security official and attorney in the federal government she was instrumental in drafting relevant laws and policies as well as implementing government-wide programs on insider threat, critical infrastructure protection, cybersecurity, privacy, data protection, law enforcement and administrative national security investigations, sanctions, counterterrorism, non-proliferation, personnel security & suitability and intelligence/counterintelligence programs. Patricia earned her Master of Laws (LL.M) degree cum laude with a focus on International and National Security Law from Georgetown Law Center; and her Juris Doctor (J.D.) cum laude, from Regent University School of Law, where she was Executive Editor of the Law Review.
