Sculpture student Badiah Almutairi’s BFA exit show offers a peek inside her experience as an international student. Inspired by the architecture in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the town where she grew up, her sculpture reflects the power of memory and the experience of navigating an unfamiliar culture and place. Her exhibition features fluid movement of gold elements and texts that symbolize the personal clarity of her native language and cultural identity. These elements intertwine with complex geometric forms that both harken back to her childhood home, and reflect the challenges of learning a new language and living in a foreign country.

On view in the UAH Wilson Hall Gallery from March 21 - April 5.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, March 22 from 4:30pm - 6:30pm.

Gallery hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
