It is important for Engineering Students to begin planning for their career as early as their first semester at UAH. The College of Engineering and UAH have several programs and services to help students explore engineering majors and careers, and to help students develop and practice self-presentation skills, including resumes, interview practice, and networking skills. FOCUS 2 FOCUS 2 is an online interactive, self-guided career and education planning system designed to help you make decisions about your career goals. FOCUS 2 will: Assess your career planning readiness, work interests, values, skills, personality type, and leisure time interests. Broaden your career options and discover occupations matching your personal preferences and attributes. Decide which career fields, majors, and training programs are best for you. Plan the career and educational pathway that will support your personal needs and goals. All UAH students have access to FOCUS 2. CANDID CAREER Candid Career is designed to help engineering students learn about different engineering careers, career paths, and other career guidance by watching short videos designed to help you with your career goals. To the right is a Candid Career widget - check out these videos to get you started. You can also search the complete Candid Career library of videos by going to http://www.candidcareer.com/UAHE. ENGINEERING CAREER PANELS The College of Engineering, through the FYE 101 - Charger Success for Engineering course, holds Career Fundamentals panels that provide career information and guidance to students. The Career Panels consist of professional engineers, hiring managers, and human resource professionals - some of whom are UAH Engineering alumni. UAH CAREER SERVICES The UAH Career Services office provides a variety of services to students including career exploration, how to write a professional resume, developing effective interview and networking skills, and information on current job postings with companies and government agencies. UAH Career Services also sponsors two Career Fairs each year - one in September and one in January (typically). A first step to using Career Services is to log into Charger Path.
