When to apply

Priority admittance will be given to individuals who apply by the dates listed. Applications received after these dates will still be evaluated, but an admission decision for your semester of choice is not guaranteed. Submit your application as early as possible to be the most competitive and to receive the greatest selection of classes.

TermPriority Admittance Deadline
(U.S. Students)
Spring November 30
Summer March 15
Fall June 1

Once your application has been submitted and all supporting documentation has been received, it typically takes approximately 15-30 business days for an admission decision to be made. U.S. citizens may apply non-degree seeking if there is not sufficient time for an admission decision or to acquire necessary documents.

Submit Your Transcript and Scores

Official undergraduate transcripts are required and will be requested within the application portal. Please use the document provided to request your transcripts. Do not send your transcripts directly to UAH. The official transcript request cover letter will provide the correct address for you to use.

Have your official scores sent directly to UAH by the testing agency:

Minimum score: 300 verbal and quantitative and a 3.0 on analytical writing
    Institutional code:1854

Application fees

UAH uses the Common Application System (CAS) hosted by Liaison to help process your application. The application link above will take you to one of the three application portals: GradCAS, EngineeringCAS, or BusinessCAS. UAH's application fee is $60.00. In addition to this fee, the CAS system also charges an additional processing fee. Their fee will be included with our fee. The total application fees are as follows:

  • GradCAS: $84 ($60 UAH fee + $24 Liaison fee)
  • EngineeringCAS: $118 ($60 UAH fee + $58 Liaison fee)
  • BusinessCAS: $108 ($60 UAH fee + $48 Liaison fee)

Test scores waived in response to Covid-19

Please review the alternate requirements:

In response to COVID-19, admission test scores for the GRE, GMAT, and MAT have been waived for the Summer 2021, Fall 2021, and Spring 2022 terms if the applicant meets the alternate requirements outlined below.

GRE/GMAT/MAT alternative test scores waiver requirements:

  • The applicant has an undergraduate GPA greater than or equal to 3.0, or
  • The applicant has 5 or more years of professional work experience and had a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.8 or higher, or
  • The applicant has already completed a graduate degree at an accredited institution.

Meeting these alternate requirements does not guarantee admission. Colleges may also evaluate transcripts and grades in specific courses to determine an applicant’s readiness. Doctorate candidates will also be evaluated holistically based on their entire application, including research and recommendation letters.

A waiver request is not required. Each applicant will be reviewed automatically.

Note: GRE/GMAT/MAT may still be required to receive assistantships and scholarships.

This change affects applicants whose scores have not been received as of March 15, 2020. TOFEL/IELTS language tests and PRAXIS education tests are not waived at this time.

May the GRE, GMAT or MAT be waived?

There are some exemptions from the GRE/GMAT/MAT requirement.

  1. If you graduated from an accredited college or university five or more years ago and have not been subsequently enrolled since that time, and you have a record of consistent professional achievement as documented on a submitted resume, the GRE/MAT requirements might be waived upon recommendation of the department or program chair. The final decision is made by the Dean of Graduate School. You must submit a written request for a waiver to be sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
  2. If you have an advanced degree from the United States, the GRE/MAT scores might be waived. You should also submit a written request for the waiver and send it to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Department standards may be higher and these minimum scores do no guarantee admission. Program committees will not consider your application until all documents are received. Please contact the department or program website for any additional required documents.
