Dr. Hongyu Zhou

Dr. Hongyu Zhou received his PhD degree in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University in 2013. He received his master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Arizona State University in 2012 and bachelor’s degree from Tongji University, China in 2010.  His research focuses on the holistic design and sustainable construction of buildings and other built environments by synergistically considering their architectural forms, building materials, and energy subsystems as an integrated entirety. He is founder and coordinator of the UAH Structural Hazard Mitigation & Intelligent Materials Laboratory. Dr. Zhou is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), and he is the faculty advisor of the UAH ASCE Student Chapter.
