The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), a part of the University of Alabama System, has partnered with the American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM) to offer a new course, ASEM Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Exam Prep. Six Sigma is a data-driven methodology that reduces defects and product variation in manufacturing, service, design, or other business processes. The goals of Six Sigma are process stability and predictability, which are achieved through a well-defined and structured methodology to sustain quality improvement. Six Sigma improves the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization resulting in growth and continuous improvement. 

Six Sigma Application to Engineering and Technology Management
In this Certification Exam Prep, ASEM offers a niche training solution that focuses on the Six Sigma application to Engineering and Technology Management. Engineering management-based Six Sigma training is used to reduce variations in all product or service life cycle processes. The approach is customer-focused, and improvement opportunities are emphasized in areas that yield the most significant benefit with the least effort. Participants who do not have access to Minitab software may choose the fee option which includes a six-month Minitab license.

Tres Bishop, DBA

Dr. Tres Bishop is an innovative and energetic quality and continuous improvement executive with extensive experience in highly regulated industries. He is a results-oriented leader that prides himself on building and developing teams that meet or exceed customer expectations. Currently, Dr. Bishop is Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs for DaVita Labs in DeLand Florida. He is responsible for creating the strategic direction of the quality organization. Key responsibilities include the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Laboratory Quality Management System. Before moving to DaVita, Bishop held positions of increasing responsibility at Kaman Aerospace, Comtech Systems, Rockwell Collins, and Harris Corporation.

Bishop earned a degree in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Florida, an MBA and MS in Engineering Management from the Florida Institute of Technology, and a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of South Florida. Bishop's certifications reflect his passion for continuous improvement, leadership, and change management. He is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, a Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, and a Certified Project Management Professional.
