Meet Your Instructors:

Mikel Petty

Mikel Petty, Ph.D. is a Senior Scientist for Modeling and Simulation at the UAH Information Technology and Systems Center. Dr. Petty has worked in modeling and simulation research and development since 1990 in areas that include simulation interoperability and composability, verification and validation methods, and Monte Carlo simulation.  He is currently Editor-in-Chief of the journal SIMULATION. Dr. Petty is also an author of the CMSP Certification Exam. He teaches Intro to R Programming, Fundamentals of Modeling and Simulation, Simulation Verification, Validation, and Accreditation, and Monte Carlo Simulation for UAH PD Solutions.

Jeffery Little

Jeffery K. Little, Ph.D. is subject-matter expert for Jacobs in modeling, simulation and analysis of integrated systems failure modes. Previously, he served as Principal Research Engineer for UAH's Center for Modeling, Simulation and Analysis where his work supported NASA's launch platform development. His diverse career includes managing turbine engine research at NASA, test operations support for the Air Force, teaching at the USAF Academy and Air Force Institute of Technology, and serving as President of the Community College of the Air Force. He teaches Systems Analysis, Modeling, and Simulation, for UAH PD Solutions.

David Gross

David Gross, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in Systems Engineering and leads the Architecture Driven Systems lab at the University of Arizona. He has over 30 years' experience specifying, designing, building, and delivering integrated systems, embedded software, and simulations for aerospace and software intensive systems. He was selected by Boeing and Lockheed Martin as both a Software and Systems Technical Fellow. His research has led to over 50 publications, 3 patents, and many proprietary innovations. He has also served on the Modeling & Simulation Professional Certification Commission. He teaches Developing Simulations for UAH PD Solutions.

Gregory Tackett

Gregory Tackett is the Vice President for Huntsville Operations of Clear Creek Applied Technologies Inc (CCAT) and is the former Senior Executive Service (SES) Director of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Operational Test Agency (OTA). Mr. Tackett has over 35 years of M&S experience, and has served in Director and Executive Advisor roles throughout his career. Mr. Tackett has a BS in Physics from Mississippi College and an MBA from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He teaches Test Evaluation and Assessment, Test and Evaluation Principles, and Systems Engineering Overview for UAH PD Solutions.


Steven Mullins

Steven E. Mullins has more than 38 years experience in the areas of analysis, assessment, and testing of strategic and tactical defense system hardware. This includes test design, planning, preparation, conduct and post test data analysis for laboratory and field and flight mission testing. He has participated in the development of unique and specialty test facilities with a wide range of test approaches and techniques from bench testing to MDAP programs. He teaches Test Planning and Conduct for UAH PD Solutions.

Glenn McPherson

Glenn McPherson is the Product Assurance Division Chief at Joint Attack Munition Systems (JAMS) Project Office, PEO Missiles and Space. He has worked in systems engineering and test and evaluation for more than 25 years. Mr. McPherson has held management positions in commercial and government engineering capacities. His experience includes employment in the automotive industry, aerospace and defense systems. He is certified in systems engineering, program management, test and evaluation, production and quality management and engineering, and logistics. Mr. McPherson holds bachelor's and master's degrees. He teaches Requirements Development for UAH PD Solutions.
