Huntsville Drumline Gran Masters

In-Person, Off-Campus, Huntsville Drumline percussion and performing arts center  |  Instructor: Frederick Walker

Designed specifically for those ages 50 and older, the Gran Masters program offers seasoned adults a free opportunity to gather together, learn percussion skills, and move their bodies in tune with one another. This program has the power to support several specific needs, including physical movement, social interaction, and brain awareness. All materials will be supplied.

Jennie Couch demonstrates watercolor techniques

Watercolor Basics

In-Person, UAH Campus  |  Jennie Couch

Experiment and surprise yourself with the infinite possibilities of watercolor. Connect with the creativity inherent in you. This workshop will lay the foundation for using watercolors and the basics of color mixing and watercolor techniques. To build your brushwork skills, you will learn to make the most of various brush shapes and sizes. This workshop will give you the confidence to go beyond the basics, to create paintings from the things that inspire you. All materials will be supplied. Bring a sketchbook if you have one, but it is not required.

Frederick Walker, Instructor for Huntsville Community Drumline

Frederick Walker

Frederick Walker is a 2018 graduate of Alabama A&M University. He is a professionally trained percussionist and classically trained pianist. Since 2010, Frederick has been responsible for developing musical skills and leadership training at Huntsville Community Drumline. Fred teaches private drum and piano lessons and is the pianist for Beans Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Huntland, Tennessee.

Jennie Couch, Adjunct Instructor at UAH

Jennie Couch

Jennie Couch is a native of Huntsville, Alabama. She received her B.S. in Art and an MA in Painting from The University of Alabama. She went on to earn an MFA with a concentration in Ceramics and Sculpture from Stephen F. Austin State University. She is currently an adjunct instructor at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. She has exhibited in galleries throughout the South, with numerous one-person shows in Houston, Texas, Fargo, North Dakota, Morehead, Minnesota, and Huntsville, Alabama.
