Each spring, UAH recognizes outstanding undergraduate students for their academic achievements during Honors Convocation.

During the ceremony, students who have been named to the Dean’s List and/or President’s List, were inducted into honor societies, or have otherwise attained academic excellence are recognized for their achievements.

Your success is a reflection not only of your hard work and dedication, but also of your resilience as you have made outstanding academic strides during the most difficult of circumstances over the previous year. We are proud of your accomplishments and encourage you to continue your pursuit of academic excellence.

University Academic Achievement

Honors Convocation Dean's List recognizes students earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher based on the last 20 credit hours completed in any of the previous 3 academic terms. Honors Convocation Dean's List Top Scholar status is awarded to the student who has achieved the highest GPA for the most recent 20 hours taken in any of the previous 3 semesters.

Semester Honor Scholar and Scholar designations are given to undergraduate students in good standing, earning 12 or more credit hours in a semester based on GPA.

  • Honor Scholar designation has GPA of 3.5 - 4.0.
  • Scholar designation has a GPA of 3.0 - 3.49.

Semester President's List and Dean's List recognition is based on GPA for a minimum of 12 undergraduate hours.

  • President’s List students have achieved a GPA of 4.0.
  • Dean’s List students have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Research Horizons Day strives to highlight and celebrate the research and creative work of students. The poster session competition is open to current UAH graduate and undergraduate students from all disciplines and majors who have completed research or creative projects under the mentorship of faculty or research staff. Selected posters/creative projects are judged and prizes awarded by the respective college.

Graduating with Honors

Graduating with honors at the baccalaureate level requires a minimum of 60 credit hours earned at UAH. Honors will be determined by the GPA of the last 60 hours taken at UAH or the overall GPA for coursework completed at UAH, whichever is higher.

Honors will be determined as follows:

  • Summa Cum Laude – GPA of 3.9 or above
  • Magna Cum Laude – GPA of 3.7. 3.899
  • Cum Laude – GPA of 3.4 - 3.699
