Counseling Philosophy

I view counseling as an individualized experience that allows each person to explore themselves in a safe and non-judgmental environment.  I strive to empower individuals in helping them make changes in ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving.  My process is collaborative and solution-focused in order to to help the client establish viable goals and plans for accomplishing these goals.  I prefer to use a holistic approach along with an integration of counseling theories to help guide in the therapeutic process.

What's your favorite thing about working at UAH?

I love our diverse population and the age group we work with.  College is such an impressionable and impactful time in a student’s life.  I find it important that we encourage and allow students to grow and change as they transition from being a teenager to an adult.  “Adulting” can be hard!  It’s important to be supportive during this transition and I’m thankful that I can provide that to those that want or need it.

I also love our staff.  We have THE BEST staff.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

What is something about you that would surprise others?

I hate cats but only because I’m allergic to them.  I’m also allergic to llamas…Please don’t bring either to my office.
