The Great Blue Heron is indigenous to North Alabama and the Camp Jackson area. Not long ago, this magnificant bird was decrasing in population and being considered by some for placement on the list of threatened species. However, environmental awareness and conservation activities halted this trend and the Great Blue made a comeback and is now out of danger. In 1990, the Tennessee Valley Council Camping Committee initiated a comprehensive effort to revitalize the Tennessee Valley Council camp program and facilities. The committee chose the Great Blue Geron as symbolic of a comeback and has The Pinnacle in the background as a recognizable landmark of Camp Jackson. The price for each limited edition strip is $10.00. All revenue from the sale of these strips will be used for capital improvements at our council camps. No money will be used for salary, overhead expenses or transferred to other area. A maximum of 2000 1990 Limited Edition strips will be produced.
