The Huntsville Feminist Chorus (HFC) is an a capella chorus specializing
in "songs that empower women," including many works by women composers.
The Chorus performs several times a year, always with free admission, and has
been singing since 1993. To contact the Chorus, email Betty Clemens, bettyc@hiwaay.net . updated September 19, 2007

Angela Lucas (left), who has directed the Chorus from 2002-2007, is retiring from Chorus this year, along with our business manager, Shelly Cotten. Angela stepped in at a critical moment in Chorus history, when we suddenly lost our co-founder and director Sherry Mercieca, in December 2001. At that time, we weren't sure if Chorus could go on. Thanks to Angela, and to the tireless efforts of co-founder and then business manager Justine Shrider, the Chorus did go on. The spring 2002 concert at UAH Roberts Recital Hall was the first of over 20 concerts that Angela directed. One of the original members of the Chorus, Angela sang second soprano and drummed at most concerts before taking on the director's role. She will be sorely missed! |
