Registration Instructions

Welcome

UAHuntsville has become mindful of the importance of timely and effective communications to students, faculty and staff during a time of crisis. The UAlert System is a comprehensive communications solution that allows the University to quickly disseminate an urgent message through multiple communication mediums including:
  • voice messages to cell, home and office phones
  • text messages to cell phones
  • email messages
Emergency messages from UAlert will show 256-824-7100 as the originating phone number for text and voice messages sent to cellular phones. Please add the phone number 256-824-7100 to your contacts and title the entry "UAH Emergency." When UAlert is activated, you will then know instantly there is an emergency message for you.

The University of Alabama in Huntsville has chosen Blackboard Connect to provide critical notification services during emergencies and in routine business operations.

To update your UAlert contact preferences please use the "Update Contact Information" link on this page or visit uah.bbcportal.com. If this is your first visit to the Blackboard Connect portal, you will need to click on the "Sign Me Up!" link and follow the onscreen instructions. You will need your UAHuntsville "A" number and your official UAHuntsville email address in order to complete the registration process. Click here for more detailed registration instructions.

The next test will be announced soon. The test will have the system send text messages, emails, and phone messages to the devices you chose. The test will allow us to evaluate several components of the system and for users to become accustomed to receiving emergency messages from the University.

Text messages, emails, and voice messages will have the following content:

  • Title or Subject: Test UAlert System
  • Message: From UAHuntsville. This is a test of the UAlert system. Please acknowledge.

We ask that whichever method you selected to receive the message that you confirm message receipt. This is accomplished by doing the following:

  • If you receive a text message, it will be from "89361". Upon receipt of the message, please reply with "YES" and send.
  • If you receive an email, it will be from "emergency@uah.edu". Please click on the link "Please click here to acknowledge receipt of this message."
  • If you receive a phone call, it will be from "2568246596". Please press "1" to receive the message and press "1" again after the message to confirm receipt.
