WHERE THE GREAT ONES RUN

THE STORY: Country legend Sonny Burl returns to his hometown to play one last concert at the county fair. While there, he tries to reconnect with the wife he never divorced, the brother he abandoned, and the daughter he never knew.


About the author:
Mark Roberts is the Creator and Executive Producer of the television sitcom MIKE & MOLLY on CBS. He worked for seven years on the top-rated CBS comedy, "Two and a Half Men," rising to the level of executive producer. He met creative partner Chuck Lorre when he wrote and produced several plays in Los Angeles, including his one-act comedy, "Couples Counseling Killed Katie," at the Plymouth Theatre Company. Other original plays he has written and produced include "Where the Great Ones Run," "Parasite Drag" and "Rantoul and Die," which have all been published by Dramatists Play Service, Inc.

Roberts began his career as an actor and comedian. Born and raised in Urbana, Ill., he moved to Chicago in his early 20s to pursue a career as an actor and writer, using stand-up comedy as a way to pay the bills. Comedy took him to Los Angeles, where he appeared on "The Tonight Show" several times, leading him to numerous guest-starring roles on the television series "Seinfeld," "Friends," "The Practice," "The Larry Sanders Show" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." He also worked as a series regular for three seasons on "The Naked Truth" with Téa Leoni. His feature film acting credits include "Next Of Kin" and "Bulletproof."
