Mandatory Attendance Age Law

According to ACT-2009-564, the mandatory attendance age for Alabama schools is raised from age 16 to age 17, effective August 1, 2009. Anyone under age 17 now needs a certificate of exemption from the local superintendent in order to take GED (along with the parent's/guardian notarized permission letter and school exit interview form) on or after the effective date.
